PROFILE SCHOOL

The Laboratory High School, also known as SLU's Basic Education School. This school was established in 1921 as a private school. Located at 84 C.M. Recto St., Navy Base 2600 Baguio City, Philippines. is the school where I observed, assisted, and taught for a month. At the SLU Laboratory School, I was a junior high teacher. SLU Junior High Laboratory School has a vision and goal that is "committed to being a transformative socially engaged Catholic Educational Institution forming Christ-centered, responsible and globally enterprising citizens through holistic human and Christian formation, collaborative learning, and academic excellence in the pursuit of justice, peace, and integrity of creation".

ACADEMIC SUPPORT SYSTEM

The Junior High Department of Saint Louis University, a coeducational junior high school, provides a variety of academic and extracurricular programs and activities to support students in developing and learning.

The Navy Base has large facilities that house the junior and senior high schools in one location. The Junior High School building is five stories tall, and the Senior High School building is eight stories tall. I was assigned to the Junior High Laboratory School to instruct ninth-grade students in English subject as part of the SeaTeacher program.

The institution offers extensive resources to assist with educational endeavors. From my observations, indicate that every classroom is furnished with all the necessities, such as a TV to show educational materials, a large whiteboard, sufficient lighting, and cozy seating arrangements with tables and chairs for in-class learning.

In addition, the university has several labs for real-world use in science and athletics, among other areas, which I believe significantly benefit the university's academic programs. Beyond the classroom, the Navy Base offers students extracurricular activities and competitions to participate in, encouraging accomplishments outside of the classroom.

TEACHING SYSTEM

The Saint Louis University Basic Education School - Laboratory High School held classes every Monday to Friday. The flag-raising ceremony is held every Monday and starts at 7:30 AM. Class hours start from 7:40 AM until 4:00 PM. The number of subjects that students take is five (5), with each subject taking one (1) hour. The school has two breaks for students and teachers: Recess is from 9:40 to 10:00, and Lunch break is from 12:00 to 1:00
